Bamboo fiber, more commonly referred to as’ the 21 new naturals, green and eco-friendly textile material. Bamboo fabric is 40% more absorbent than fine organic cotton and is a remarkable human invention that is durable and sustainable. Obtained from natural resources, fiber not only contributes to global environmental balance but is also a bold fashion statement in today’s economy.

China is the world’s leading bamboo clothing manufacturers, producing high-quality fabrics for domestic and international sales. In the following article, we introduce you to the bamboo fiber fabric industry and answer some of your questions about the business and the products available.

What is bamboo fiber cloth?

Bamboo fiber fabric (also known as air conditioning fabric) is any fabric made from bamboo fiber. Traditionally, bamboo fiber fabric is a breathable, non-sticky, and cool fabric that offers comfort and lightness to the user.

The fabric has a cross-section that is filled with many micro-voids and micro-holes, which gives it good moisture absorption and ventilation, making it ideal for summer weather.

According to apparel wholesale manufacturers, clothing made from bamboo fibers is 1 to 2 degrees lower in summer than clothing made from other fabrics.

What is the origin of bamboo fiber?

Bamboo fibers are made up of 100% regenerated cellulose fibers, which guarantee an environmentally-friendly textile production.

Since bamboo fiber is a biodegradable material, microorganisms and solar radiation can easily degrade it in the soil. This ensures the removal of contaminants during the recycling process.

Bamboo fibers have natural antibacterial properties. Therefore, as a plant, bamboo can thrive naturally without pesticides because it naturally has a unique bioactive ingredient called bacteriostatic, more commonly known as “Kun bamboo.”

This blend is now often distilled from bamboo plants and applied to other products due to its excellent antimicrobial properties. Studies report that more than 70% of bacteria die after being incubated in bamboo fiber.

How is a bamboo fiber made?

At first, the bamboo pulp is refined from bamboo through a multi-stage hydrolysis-alkalization and bleaching process. Then after high-tech removal, the bamboo fibers are stretched until they become thinner than hair and have a smooth round surface.

Due to the high abrasion resistance of bamboo, it is easily rotated. It can be spun pure or mixed with other materials such as cotton, hemp, silk lyocell (Tencel), modal, cotton chemical fiber, and others. Once the stretching process is complete, the fabric is no longer irritating to human skin and is transformed into clothing and apparel for sale.
